“I'm happy if I can attract 2,000 people to a concert hall in a city. In principle, more people don't need to know me,” said the young South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho modestly just a few years ago. At that time, however, this was no longer the reality - especially in his home country, where he has been celebrated like a pop star since his first place in the International Chopin Competition in 2015. In the meantime, his life has also fundamentally changed internationally, as he is one of the leading pianists of the younger generation.

Under contract with Deutsche Grammophon since 2016, the sensitive and thoughtful artist has also repeatedly encountered Chopin on the yellow label and can also point to a wide range of other composers that he has already recorded. But not (yet) the “three big Bs” of the classical piano repertoire. For Beethoven and Brahms from the hands of Cho, we therefore recommend a visit to the Prinzregententheater to experience an artist of whom the Wall Street Journal simply says: “Cho is a Master.”
