On the Way into the Digital Future – The Jeonju Digital Project
When it was founded in 2000, the Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea launched the Jeonju Digital Project to explore the aesthetic potential of the then still young digital format. Within this context, three medium-length films were commissioned each year from 2000 to 2013. Arsenal is showing a selection of these often little-known works by renowned filmmakers such as James Benning, Pedro Costa, Claire Denis, Lav Diaz, Harun Farocki, Bahman Ghobadi, Naomi Kawase, Matías Piñeiro, Jean-Marie Straub, Hong Sang-soo and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
